Capital Madrid is the city with the most impressive nighttime illumination in the country. Toledo, the capital of the Castile - La Mancha region 70 km southwest of Madrid, is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Spanish history. With its appearance bearing traces of all civilizations that have come and gone in Spain, it offers unforgettable memories to its visitors. Built on steep, protected cliffs encircled by the Tagus River and surrounded by high walls, the city has always been a valuable place throughout history, from the Romans to the Visigoths, from Al-Andalus to the Kingdom of Spain. Also the center of Judaism in the Iberian Peninsula until the end of the 15th century, Toledo hosts many important structures, from Europe’s oldest surviving synagogue to dozens of churches converted from mosques and the magnificent cathedral where Spain was religiously governed, and is almost a mosaic where the three Abrahamic religions and their peoples are intertwined. Until the Empire moved the capital to Madrid in 1561, Toledo was the political, cultural, commercial, and military center; it also inspired Cervantes’ immortal work Don Quixote of La Mancha, and much of its story takes place in and around this city. For all these reasons, Toledo has earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Among the places we will see during our excursion are the famous viewpoint where you can photograph the city’s magnificent 16th-century appearance like a painting, San Martin Bridge, San Juan Monastery, Jewish Quarter, Santo Tome Church, Santa Maria Cathedral Square, the shopping street where you can find everything unique to the city, and Zocodover Square, the city center. During the free time after the tour, you can taste Toledo’s almond paste Mazapan and try Manchego, Spain’s world-famous aged sheep’s cheese named after this region. As a souvenir, you can browse swords, knives, or accessories made using traditional methods, since this is where the most famous steel of the Middle Ages was produced and they were even used in Hollywood films. In addition, you can also purchase filigree products inherited from the Andalusian period, known as Damasquinado, adorned with beautiful motifs using gold threads of different settings. Day 5 | Granada – Valencia
After breakfast, free time and during free time, meeting in the lobby at the time determined by our guide and with guests who wish, we carry out the extra visit to Alhambra Palace (harem subject to availability) (60 Euro). Granada was a Muslim city in the Middle Ages, and this city was protected by a magnificent fortress known as the Alhambra, famous from fairy tales, at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The Alhambra Palace, by virtue of its location and the 37 towers accompanying its high walls, dominated the skies of Granada. Its construction took more than 150 years. However, what makes the Alhambra Palace the most visited place in Spain is more than being a well-protected military refuge. It is a palace where pleasure was enjoyed in its elegant courtyards, deadly intrigues unfolded, and it is also the largest and most beautiful example of Islamic architecture in the West. The enchanting Alhambra, seeming as if it came out of the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, was unexpectedly and improbably lost by Sultan Muhammad XII (Boabdil) to Queen Isabel. In the same year, it was declared the main palace of the Kingdom of Spain, and royal decisions that initiated Christopher Columbus’s voyage were made here. All the palace stories known today were compiled by the famous writer Washington Irving under the name Tales of the Alhambra. On our Alhambra Palace tour, we will visit the Generalife gardens, the Summer Palace, and the Alcazaba Fortress. An unforgettable journey awaits you, accompanied by memories, stories, and photographs. After our tour, we return to our hotel, complete our check-out procedures, and set off for Valencia. On arrival in Valencia, during our panoramic city tour we will see; the world-famous Science and Arts Center of Santiago Calatrava, the Gothic Cathedral, the Micalet Bell Tower, the Lonja Market where trade was conducted by barter in the 15th century, the Arena, the City Hall Square, and the old market area. Then, during the free time we provide, we set off for the optional Girona & Figueras (80 Euro) tour with guests who wish. Our tour begins in the city of Girona, the pearl of Northern Catalonia, established at the point where the Onyar, Galligants, and Güell rivers meet. The region is historically quite rich with works left by dozens of occupations and rules since the Iberians. Since all the structures were built of stone and have been very well preserved to this day, they fully reflect the spirit of the past. It is a favorite of tourists with its museums, churches, narrow cobblestone streets, and medieval walls. The Lion Statue, Cathedral Square, and Jewish Quarter are among the places to see. After our tour, we head to the city of Figueras. Its importance is that the surrealist artist Salvador Dali was born here in 1904. Dali established a museum here to leave a mark in the place where he was born and to exhibit his works. Today this museum has the largest Dali collection and is referred to as Dali’s greatest work because every part of it was designed by Dali. The museum contains more than 4,000 works by Dali made using different techniques. After our visit, return to the city center, meeting, and transfer to our hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
