Toledo, the capital of the Castile-La Mancha region 70 km southwest of Madrid, is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Spanish history. With its appearance bearing traces of all civilizations that have come and gone in Spain, it offers visitors unforgettable memories. Built on protected steep cliffs surrounded by the Tajo River and encircled by high walls, the city has always been a valuable one throughout history, from the Romans to the Visigoths, from Andalusia to the Kingdom of Spain. Also the center of Judaism on the Iberian Peninsula until the late 15th century, Toledo contains many important structures, from Europe’s oldest surviving synagogue to dozens of churches converted from mosques and its magnificent cathedral where Spain was governed religiously, and is almost a mosaic where the three Abrahamic religions and their peoples are intertwined. Until the Empire moved the capital to Madrid in 1561, the city of Toledo was the political, cultural, commercial, and military center; it also inspired Cervantes’ immortal work Don Quixote of La Mancha, and a large part of its story takes place in this city and its surroundings, and for all these reasons Toledo has taken its place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Among the places we will see during our tour are the famous viewpoint where you can photograph the magnificent 16th-century appearance of the city like a painting, San Martin Bridge, San Juan Monastery, Jewish Quarter, Santo Tome Church, Santa Maria Cathedral Square, the shopping street where you can find everything unique to the city, and the central Zocodover Square. During the free time after the tour, you can taste Mazapan, Toledo’s almond paste specialty, and try Manchego, Spain’s world-renowned aged sheep cheese named after this region. As a gift, since it is the place where the most famous steel of the Middle Ages was produced, you can examine swords, knives, or accessories made by traditional methods and even used in Hollywood films. In addition, you can also purchase filigree products from the Andalusian period, known as Damasquinado, decorated with beautiful motifs using gold wires of different gauges. After our city tour; we carry out the Alhambra Palace visit. Granada was a Muslim city in the Middle Ages, and this city was protected by a magnificent fortress known as Alhambra, subject of fairy tales, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The Alhambra Palace dominated the Granada skies by virtue of its location and the 37 towers accompanying its high walls. Its construction took more than 150 years. However, what made the Alhambra Palace the most visited place in Spain is more than being a well-protected military refuge. A palace where pleasure and delight were enjoyed in its elegant courtyards, deadly intrigues, and at the same time the greatest and most beautiful example of Islamic architecture in the West. The Alhambra, a captivating palace known for the inscriptions “There is no victor but God” worked thousands of times on all its walls and seeming as if it came out of the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, was unexpectedly and unexpectedly lost by Sultan Muhammad XII (Boabdil) to Queen Isabel. In the same year it was declared the main palace of the Kingdom of Spain, and the royal decisions that initiated Christopher Columbus’s voyage were made here. All the stories of the palace known today were compiled by the famous writer Washington Irving under the name Tales of the Alhambra. In our Alhambra Palace tour; we will visit the Paradise of Arif gardens, the Summer Palace, the famous Emperor Charles V’s Palace, the Alcazaba Fortress and, depending on availability, the Nasrid Palace.
